Jesus Calms the Storm

In Luke chapter 8, we read about Jesus and his disciples going out on the lake. While he laid down to rest, a big and dangerous storm hit. Being in “great danger,” according to Scripture, we read that the fearful disciples woke Jesus up saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

Does this sound at all familiar? Perhaps your church is experiencing a shift in leadership or you’re considering a new direction. Perhaps the stress is at an all time high in the midst of a new school year or you feel like you’ve lost sight of where God is calling you completely.

The Good News is that the same Christ who got up, rebuked the wind and the waves, and calmed the storm in this story, is with you today. The disciples were amazed and asked each other, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

We know who this is – our Lord and Savior, the Head of the Church, our hope and our salvation. The only one who calls us home and sustains us until then.

Wherever you are and whatever is going on in your ministry, know you aren’t alone. Ministries across the globe are experiencing great challenges and many of them are afraid of going under. As disciples experiencing many different storms, let us look to Christ too, considering how to serve Him and steward the resources God has given us today.

I’m excited to announce that at the beginning of October my first book, 10 Tsunamis Impacting Ministries, was published! I humbly hope this will benefit your ministry as you seek to serve God in the midst of the storm, as we all look forward to the calm sea which awaits us.

I believe there is a wide swath of “tsunamis” which have hit or will hit ministries in the USA. Churches, schools, and other non-profits are in the “eye of the storm.” Perhaps looking into this book will help your ministry survive what’s coming.

You can get your copy a few different ways:
– Purchase it digitally on iBooks or on Amazon for $6.99
– Purchase a paperback on Amazon for $12.99
– Email Derek Johnson at BGW (djohnson@bgwservices.com) in order to purchase a single or multiple books for $10 each. Perhaps you’d like to use it for a small group or for your leadership team – let us know and we’d be happy to put together a shipment for you.

We are also currently developing a seminar which will focus on the content of this book and will help your ministry create a vision going forward. If you are interested in this, please send me an email at dcook@bgwservices and I’d be happy to talk to you more about it. A single ministries could host this seminar and use it as an opportunity to focus in on their needs and a new direction, or a group of ministries may be interested in hosting it together so as to focus on the needs and future of the wider community.

May God be with you in the midst of whatever storm you are in, blessing you with courage to continue in the good work you are doing.
